Add Vs Upload a document in a document library - Sharepoint 2010

The document library provides a small link at the bottom that says "Add document" but it does show an upload pop up when you click that link. It definitely misleads users. So, here is few simple steps you could do to provide a link that can actually open a new document.


Normal behavior :
Things you could do to get the following output is specified below:




1. Create a Content Editor webpart under your library that can have the following HTML script




2. Now, to remove the original "Add document" link, goto the library webpart and set the Chrome Type to None. The original one will disappear.
